I remember a lifetime long ago
Living and standing by the river
To look at my reflection in the water
Flowing by and also wondering why
I didn’t have the courage then to try
And make it across to the other side
Now at the water’s edge
Yes I’m on the edge
Of a fast flowing river
That can carry me away
To the best of my knowledge
I couldn’t resist to try to fly
High on up to the bright blue sky above and then beyond
Then I tried to find the one to love
Sailing far too close to the wind
And also playing with burning fire
To take me way on up higher and higher
But only then to lose the one I love
And so I crashed and burned
Still I never learn ...
Well I’ve been at the edge
As I look far out to sea
From the cliff I see
The place I dream to be
But also wondering if
I was to fall
Down to the rocks below
Would you hear me call
Out to you by name
Or would this be in vain
As I crash and burn again
And still I pray to the stars above
Even if I was to crash and burn and burn again ! ...
But that’s because I already knew
Some before me had tried and died
And from then on I clearly understood
The risks the danger but the big adventure
At the edge and learn I would
About the thrill of danger on the edge ...
